A Journey Through Time

Nestled amidst the bustling cityscape of Raleigh, North Carolina, lies a haven of history – Honeycutt Farm. This 68-acre property isn't just any plot of land; it's a tangible link to a bygone era, a time when rolling hills, pastures, and forests dominated the Wake County landscape.

Imagine a time not that long ago, when Raleigh was a tapestry of small family farms. Picture the Honeycutt Homeplace, a pre-Civil War structure perched proudly on a prominent hill, featured in Kelly Lally's book "The Historic Architecture of Wake County." This very home stands before you today, a silent witness to the agricultural heritage of our community.

The Davis family purchased Honeycutt Farm in the early 1970s. Here, Dr. James H. Davis and his wife, Nancy, raised their five children, creating an idyllic childhood filled with raising cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens, and horses. It was a vibrant example of a thriving farmstead, a microcosm of rural life. Sadly, after Nancy's passing, the focus shifted primarily to timber production.

However, Honeycutt Farm's story doesn't end there. Today, the farm stands at a crossroads. Unrelenting development threatens to erase this historic landmark. Yet, there's a glimmer of hope. We envision a future where Honeycutt Farm not only survives but thrives, becoming a vibrant community hub that celebrates its rich past through the lens of agritourism.
